Perhaps the Nike Terra Humara shoes are not the most widely known, but their creation hides particularly interesting story in which the legendary designer Peter Fogg appears. Terra Humara's name should be known to ACG (All Condition Gear) series fans and adventure seekers who couldn't do without strong shoes.

On the 90's designer was still unknown to anyone, and the start of his work in the company resembles an interesting story. Fogg worked in Seattle and designed the interior of Boeing's airplanes and was tired of his work. In addition to all this at that time, he also was diagnosed with cancer, so he left the job. Seven months treatment helped Fogg and he overcame a terrible disease.

Big life's victory inspired changes - his old classmate, Dave Schenone, worked for Nike and helped him get into a job interview. Peter Fogg wanted to prove that he was more than just an interior designer of airplanes. He succeeded once again - Nike hired a 39-year-old man who had no experience in the development of shoes in his life. Nike hoped that he would take advantage of his past experience and bring innovations.

At that time, the company survived the development phase, which was greatly influenced by Michael Jordan, the birth of the Air Max series and the launch of work with sports such as football or baseball. There was a great interest in the trail running at that time, and Nike wanted to further expand company's supply.

The new designer from the marketing department got the job of creating boots that are technically precise. Fogg's source of inspiration here is the motorcycle front wheel and disc brakes. This created an important part of Terra Humara's design - the outgoing lines from the center like wheel spokes.

The name Terra Humara's shoes originated from the Tarahumar tribe, which lives in western Mexico, near the Sierra Madre mountain range and is known for its long distance marathoners. Fogg was thinking about the lifestyle of these people and he wanted his shoes to have no problems with leaves, dirt, roots or stones.

This was the birth of Nike Terra Humara shoes, which are loved and used as leisure shoes these days. Another interesting fact - after the release in 1998 even the Vogue journal written about them.
